Identity and purity are checked with chromatographic and mass spectrometric methods. Reverse-phase high-performance liquid chromatography separates the peptide from related impurities, while mass spectrometry confirms the expected molecular mass. A certificate of analysis may report a purity percentage, but the laboratory should still verify the material independently. Common quality concerns include truncated sequences, deamidation, oxidation, and residual solvents from synthesis. Because TB-500 is short, some impurities can differ from the target by only a few mass units.
Reconstitution practices affect downstream measurements. The dry powder is typically dissolved in sterile water or a suitable aqueous buffer, then mixed gently rather than vortexed at high speed. Visible particles or cloudiness suggest incomplete dissolution or contamination and should be investigated. For long-term storage, aliquots should be labeled with concentration, solvent, and date. Open questions include how different buffers alter peptide conformation and whether specific container materials adsorb the peptide. Those variables can change apparent concentration in assays even when the chemical identity is correct.
Lyophilized TB-500 is hygroscopic and should be kept dry before use. The usual storage recommendation for the solid is -20 °C, protected from light and moisture. Once dissolved, the peptide is less stable, and repeated freeze-thaw cycles can promote aggregation or degradation. Laboratories often divide a reconstituted solution into single-use aliquots and store them at -80 °C. Exact stability limits depend on buffer, pH, and concentration, so published data do not define a single universal condition.
Detection in biological samples relies on mass spectrometry, typically liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry after peptide extraction and enrichment. Intact peptides can also be confirmed by high-resolution mass measurement together with fragmentation data. Detection windows in urine are short because the peptide is degraded by proteases and cleared quickly, and concentrations are low. Many jurisdictions treat the compound as a prohibited substance in sport, grouped with peptide hormones and related factors, while it is not an approved therapeutic product. Identity and purity statements therefore rest on certificates of analysis, ideally issued by an independent laboratory.
Material is normally supplied as a lyophilised powder in a sealed vial. The powder is hygroscopic, so exposure to humid air leads to water uptake, caking and gradual loss of the fluffy texture that indicates a good freeze-dry. Vials are best kept sealed with desiccant, protected from light and stored cold. Letting a cold vial warm to room temperature before opening reduces condensation on the contents. Purity is normally reported from a chromatographic run, and that figure applies to the batch as tested rather than to the vial after repeated opening.
Once dissolved, the peptide is far less stable than the dry powder. Aqueous solutions are subject to hydrolysis, oxidation at susceptible residues and gradual loss of material through adsorption onto glass and plastic surfaces. Terminal glutamine can cyclise under some conditions, producing a related species that complicates purity assessment. Dilute solutions tend to lose a larger fraction of material to surfaces than concentrated ones. Buffers, pH and ionic strength all influence the rate of change, so stability figures are only meaningful when those parameters are stated alongside the storage interval.

The regulatory position is broadly consistent across major jurisdictions: no thymosin beta-4 fragment is an approved medicine, and laboratory material is commonly labelled as not intended for human consumption. Anti-doping rules in sport list thymosin beta-4 and its fragments among prohibited peptide hormones. Because these products travel through research-chemical channels rather than pharmaceutical supply chains, quality varies considerably between vendors. Independent testing of identity, purity and sterility is the only dependable check, and a certificate of analysis describes one batch rather than a supplier's whole catalogue.
Lyophilized peptide powder is normally held desiccated at −20 °C, with −80 °C used for longer storage periods. Allowing a sealed vial to reach room temperature before opening is standard practice, because condensation forming on cold powder introduces moisture. Once dissolved, solutions are typically kept cold and shielded from light. Repeated freeze-thaw cycles are avoided because they encourage aggregation and gradual loss of material. These conventions are general to synthetic peptides rather than unique to any one sequence.
Dry peptide powder is commonly kept at −20 °C in a desiccated container away from light, a practice that limits moisture uptake and oxidation. Once dissolved, solutions are generally held at 2–8 °C for short periods or frozen at −20 °C or lower for longer storage, with repeated freeze-thaw cycles avoided. Hydrolysis and oxidation are the main degradation routes for peptides in solution, and both accelerate at higher temperature or extreme pH. Published stability data specific to TB-500 are limited, so shelf life should be treated as uncertain.
Identity and purity checks for peptide material typically combine reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography with mass measurement, since retention time alone cannot confirm a sequence. Mass measurement verifies the expected molecular mass within instrument tolerance, while chromatographic peak area provides a purity estimate. Anti-doping analysis of urine uses related but more sensitive workflows, sometimes after solid-phase extraction. For research material, batch documentation, certificate content, and independent testing are common points of scrutiny, because supply chains outside pharmaceutical regulation vary widely in the paperwork they provide.
Reconstitution of a lyophilized peptide is normally done with sterile water or a suitable buffer under aseptic conditions. Adding solvent down the vial wall and allowing gentle dissolution instead of vigorous vortexing reduces the chance of aggregation, which can lower the effective concentration of the resulting solution. Concentrated stocks are usually diluted into working buffer shortly before use. Because no standard preparation protocol exists for TB-500 specifically, laboratories adapt general peptide handling practice, and reported results may reflect differing preparation choices.
Thymosin beta-4 is a naturally occurring protein of 43 amino acids found in most mammalian cells, where it binds actin monomers and influences filament dynamics. It was first isolated from thymus tissue in the early 1980s, and its actin-binding activity was later mapped to a short region near the N-terminus. The synthetic fragment sold as TB-500 was designed to reproduce that region rather than the full protein. Whether a short fragment reproduces the behavior of the intact molecule remains an open question, since the parent protein carries additional structural elements outside the binding region.
Published research on the intact protein is substantial, covering actin regulation, cell migration, and wound models. Research using the heptapeptide fragment specifically is far smaller, and much of the circulating material originates in supplier documentation rather than peer-reviewed reports. Where fragment studies do exist, they often employ different sequences, chain lengths, or terminal modifications, which complicates direct comparison across papers. Readers encountering claims about TB-500 should therefore separate evidence about thymosin beta-4 from evidence about the fragment itself.
== History and name == Systematic studies of prostaglandins began in 1930, when Kurzrock and Lieb found that human seminal fluid caused either stimulation or relaxation of strips of isolated human uterus. They noted that uteri from patients who had gone through successful pregnancies responded to the fluid with relaxation, while uteri from sterile women responded with contraction. The name prostaglandin derives from the prostate gland, chosen when prostaglandin was first isolated from seminal fluid in 1935 by the Swedish physiologist Ulf von Euler, and independently by the Irish-English physiologist Maurice Walter Goldblatt (1895–1967). Prostaglandins were believed to be part of the prostatic secretions, and eventually were discovered to be produced by the seminal vesicles. Later, it was shown that many other tissues secrete prostaglandins and that they perform a variety of functions. The first total syntheses of prostaglandin F2α and prostaglandin E2 were reported by Elias James Corey in 1969, an achievement for which he was awarded the Japan Prize in 1989. In 1971, it was determined that aspirin-like drugs could inhibit the synthesis of prostaglandins. The biochemists Sune K. Bergström, Bengt I. Samuelsson and John R. Vane jointly received the 1982 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for their research on prostaglandins.
(No prize had previously been awarded for that year.) They described him as "Linus Carl Pauling, who ever since 1946 has campaigned ceaselessly, not only against nuclear weapons tests, not only against the spread of these armaments, not only against their very use, but against all warfare as a means of solving international conflicts." Pauling himself acknowledged his wife Ava's deep involvement in peace work, and regretted that she was not awarded the Nobel Peace Prize with him.
=== Primary ad agency === In April 2018, Dunkin' named BBDO as their primary advertising agency. This replaced Hill Holliday, which had been producing print, digital, broadcast, and billboard advertising for almost twenty years. Hill Holliday was the agency responsible for the tagline "America Runs on Dunkin'". ARC/Leo Burnett was also named to lead all in-store promotions.
=== OB3b === Methanobactin OB3b is a commonly studied methanobactin. It has a molecular weight of 1154Da when metal free. OB3b is composed of 9 amino acid residues with two oxazolone rings, which take part in binding to copper ions. The oxazalone rings are susceptible to cleavage under low pH conditions, which releases any metal ion bound to the rings. Copper is bound and reduced at a tetradentate binding site composed of 2 oxazolone rings and 2 modified enethiol groups. In particular, the origin and function of these oxazolone rings in methanobactin OB3b has been the subject of research, since these domains appear unique. In 2010, it was suggested that mb OB3b is derived from a small, ribsomally-produced peptide precursor with the sequence of L-C-G-S-C-Y-P-C-S-C-M. Functional mbOB3b is composed of (isobutyl group)-(Oxazolone ring A)-G-S-C-Y-(Oxazolone ring B)-S-M. (Note that some specimens of mBOB3b are found without the C-terminal methionine and appear fully functional.) It has been argued that the chromophoric rings of this particular species of methanobactin enable mbOB3b to bind and reduce other metals. For example, mbOB3b can reduce Ag(I) to Ag(0), Au(III) to Au(0), Cr(VI) to Cr(III), and Hg(II) to Hg(I); it is also able to bind Co(II), Zn (II), Mn(II), Pb(II), and U(IV). Because of this, it is possible that methanobactin may have several medical and environmental applications as a metal chelator and reducing agent. The mechanism of metal reduction is currently undetermined.
== History == Salad and Go was founded in 2013 in Gilbert, Arizona by Tony and Roushan Christofellis. The co-founders asked Chef Daniel Patino to help them develop the concept. Chef Patino remains an executive chef for the brand. In March 2022, industry veteran Charlie Morrison joined Salad and Go as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Since Morrison joined, the brand has expanded rapidly into major markets including the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex, Houston, Las Vegas and Oklahoma City while continuing to open locations in its home state of Arizona. Salad and Go was on track to have a total of 135 stores open by the end of 2023. In January 2024, CEO Charlie Morrison said it was on pace to continue to open up a restaurant a week and described his plans for thousands of locations. On September 19, 2025, Salad and Go closed all stores in Houston, San Antonio, and Austin, along with some in North Texas, with a total of 41 closures. New CEO Mike Tattersfield stated the move was to focus on more disciplined growth. In January 2026, Salad and Go announced it would be closing all its remaining Texas and Oklahoma locations and focusing on strengthening its operations in Arizona and Nevada. The company also announced it would be relocating its headquarters from Coppell, Texas, back to the Phoenix area. On August 4, 2026, Salad and Go filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and announced the permanent closure of all remaining locations effective the next day, August 5. As a result, plans for the new headquarters were scrapped.

=== Effects in females === FSH stimulates the growth and recruitment of immature ovarian follicles in the ovary. In early (small) antral follicles, FSH is the major survival factor that rescues the small antral follicles (2–5 mm in diameter for humans) from apoptosis (programmed death of the somatic cells of the follicle and oocyte). In the luteal-follicle phase transition period the serum levels of progesterone and estrogen (primarily estradiol) decrease and no longer suppress the release of FSH, consequently FSH peaks at about day three (day one is the first day of menstrual flow). The cohort of small antral follicles is normally sufficient in number to produce enough Inhibin B to lower FSH serum levels. In addition, there is evidence that gonadotropin surge-attenuating factor produced by small follicles during the first half of the follicle phase also exerts a negative feedback on pulsatile luteinizing hormone (LH) secretion amplitude, thus allowing a more favorable environment for follicle growth and preventing premature luteinization. As a woman nears perimenopause, the number of small antral follicles recruited in each cycle diminishes and consequently insufficient Inhibin B is produced to fully lower FSH and the serum level of FSH begins to rise. Eventually, the FSH level becomes so high that downregulation of FSH receptors occurs and by postmenopause any remaining small secondary follicles no longer have FSH nor LH receptors. When the follicle matures and reaches 8–10 mm in diameter it starts to secrete significant amounts of estradiol.
==== Capital punishment ==== The use of propofol as part of an execution protocol has been considered, although no person has been executed using this agent. This is largely due to European manufacturers and governments banning the export of propofol for such use.
Calcitonin is a hormone that triggers a short-term drop in calcium and phosphate levels in the blood. In humans, it is encoded by the gene CALCA. It is a 32 amino acid peptide hormone secreted by parafollicular cells (also known as C cells) of the thyroid (or endostyle) in humans and other chordates in the ultimopharyngeal body. By reducing blood calcium (Ca2+), it opposes the effects of parathyroid hormone (PTH). Its importance in humans has not been as well established as its importance in other animals, as its function is usually not significant in the regulation of normal calcium homeostasis. It belongs to the calcitonin-like protein family. Historically calcitonin has also been called thyrocalcitonin.
=== First mammals === The Permian–Triassic extinction event about 252 million years ago, which was a prolonged event due to the accumulation of several extinction pulses, ended the dominance of carnivorous therapsids. In the early Triassic, most medium to large land carnivore niches were taken over by archosaurs which, over an extended period (35 million years), came to include the crocodylomorphs, the pterosaurs and the dinosaurs; however, large cynodonts like Trucidocynodon and traversodontids still occupied large sized carnivorous and herbivorous niches respectively. By the Jurassic, the dinosaurs had come to dominate the large terrestrial herbivore niches as well. The first mammals (in Kemp's sense) appeared in the Late Triassic epoch (about 225 million years ago), 40 million years after the first therapsids. They expanded out of their nocturnal insectivore niche from the mid-Jurassic onwards; the Jurassic Castorocauda, for example, was a close relative of true mammals that had adaptations for swimming, digging and catching fish. Most, if not all, are thought to have remained nocturnal (the nocturnal bottleneck), accounting for much of the typical mammalian traits. The majority of the mammal species that existed in the Mesozoic Era were multituberculates, eutriconodonts and spalacotheriids. The earliest-known fossil of the Metatheria ("changed beasts") is Sinodelphys, found in 125-million-year-old Early Cretaceous shale in China's northeastern Liaoning Province. The fossil is nearly complete and includes tufts of fur and imprints of soft tissues.
Before the 1960s, abstinence-based detox was the only option for opioid addicts in the United States and produced high relapse rates. However, in 1965, clinicians at Rockefeller University published a report in the Journal of the American Medical Association of the successful treatment of 22 men addicted to heroin with the use of orally administered methadone. In September 1969, the first methadone maintenance treatment program was created in Washington, D.C. by Robert DuPont, M.D, that oversaw 25 parolees. Currently methadone must be provided through opioid treatment programs (OTP) in the United States and can not be prescribed in office settings. Although not required by regulation at this time in the United States, people are usually encouraged to attempt other types of treatment methods before entering methadone treatment programs. Since its use began in the 1960s, methadone is still the preferred choice of treatment at the clinics, and is often part of other protocols. The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) provides the protocol of how to treat addiction with recommended options including medication assisted treatment, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and medical withdrawal management. Other than methadone, newer medications with fewer side effects including buprenorphine and naltrexone have been introduced, relieve drug cravings, block opioid effects, and avoid physical dependence. CBT is an individualized treatment plan that allow therapists to explore patterns of maladaptive substance use to help generate alternative behavior skills.

The Riksdag (Swedish: [ˈrɪ̌ksdɑːɡ] or [ˈrɪ̌ksda], lit. 'diet of the realm') is the parliament and the supreme decision-making body of the Kingdom of Sweden. Since 1971, the Riksdag has been a unicameral parliament with 349 members (riksdagsledamöter), elected proportionally and serving, since 1994, fixed four-year terms. The 2026 Swedish general election is the most recent general election. The constitutional mandates of the Riksdag are enumerated in the Instrument of Government (Regeringsformen), and its internal workings are specified in greater detail in the Riksdag Act (Riksdagsordningen). The seat of the Riksdag is at Parliament House (Riksdagshuset), on the island of Helgeandsholmen in central Stockholm, in Gamla stan, the old town of Stockholm. The Riksdag has its institutional roots in the feudal Riksdag of the Estates, traditionally thought to have first assembled in Arboga in 1435. In 1866, following reforms of the 1809 Instrument of Government, that body was transformed into a bicameral legislature with an upper chamber (första kammaren) and a lower chamber (andra kammaren).

The dry powder is normally kept at -20 °C, protected from light and moisture. Reconstituted solutions are often divided into aliquots and stored at -80 °C to reduce freeze-thaw damage.
Reverse-phase HPLC assesses purity, and mass spectrometry confirms molecular mass. The combination helps distinguish the target peptide from truncated or modified impurities.
Buffer composition, pH, adsorption to containers, and freeze-thaw history can all affect the amount of intact peptide in solution. These factors may change results even when the starting material is chemically correct.
Sealed, dry and protected from light at reduced temperature is the usual laboratory convention. Allowing a cold vial to reach room temperature before opening limits condensation. Repeated opening exposes the powder to moisture and should be minimised.
